Avenida Contemporary Womens Line In Fall '08
Camron Moradi, a serial entrepreneur and now MBA candidate at Columbia University, has founded Avenida, a wholesale designer and marketer of a contemporary women’s line targeted to the Hispanic population of the U.S. The clothing appeals to young, urban and fashion-savvy women who desire to reflect the hot trends, but don't want to turn to high-end designers. In their own words:
"The Avenida girl is simply resourceful with her wardrobe, mixing and matching both basic and trendy items to get that unique and playful look. In line with the fast-paced lifestyle of New York City, the fluidity and grace of the collection allows the Avenida girl to easily transform from day to night. She can layer the pieces with a cardigan for a professional look during the day and then slip on a pair of heels for a night out with the girls."
The background information on the team suggests that Avenida is poised for success. Camron previously founded an apparel company that targeted Latinas that retailed its products at over fifteen stores nationwide and was featured on Hispanic radio stations, local TV, and fashion magazines. Camron has also managed to recruit some hot talent. Tavia Sharp (University of Delaware), the creative director at Avenida, brings several years of experience in design and print development, working as senior designer at Macy’s Merchandising Group, co-founder of the Ave Swimwear line and designer at Nautica (a personal favorite might I add). FInally, Israel Valdez, has nearly 20 years of experience in of design and product development experience, notably at Donna Karan (as one of the original team members) and Liz Claiborne.
The management team has not indicated which stores will be selling Avenida products, but ladies, make sure to look out for their Fall '08 collection! You can check for updates on their website here.
